The Nursing Homes of Nova Scotia Association is pleased to announce Menna MacIsaac as its next Executive Director. “We are thrilled to have found such a high calibre candidate and excellent fit for our Association, following a comprehensive and extensive search process that garnered much interest from many impressive candidates,” says NHNSA Chair Kyle Richardson.
“Menna is a visionary and respected leader in long term care with a proven track record for advocacy and strategic leadership,” adds Richardson. “As she has provided to all organizations she has led, Menna will bring her innovative and strategic thinking to NHNSA. She will also build upon the successful work of NHNSA to build capacity for our members, further enhance collaborations with our sector partners and advance and expand upon our advocacy role for this important healthcare sector.”
MacIsaac has held the role of CEO for Grandview Manor, a not-for-profit long term care facility with assisted living and enriched housing, inclusive of 142 residents, 80 tenants and 290 multidisciplinary staff in Berwick, for the past five years and has held a comprehensive range of senior healthcare roles throughout her career. She has expertise in strategic management, operational, human resources, and business planning as well as government relations, project management and more. Her outstanding experience and background include positions such as CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia; Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia; Victoria General Hospital Coordinator of Special Services; Director Regionalization and Director of Policy Planning and Evaluation, Policy Analyst/Planning Mental Health, Nova Scotia Department of Community Services; Regional Business Director with McKessan Care Enhanced Solutions and consultant with Handrahan Consulting Inc, contracted by Deloitte to the Newfoundland Department of Health and Community Services to design an integrated and accountable Self-Managed Care Program for NL Home Support Program.
The new ED holds a Master of Health Sciences/Health Administration from the University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a business minor from the University of Prince Edward Island, a Certified LEADS in healthcare and has a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE) designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Her volunteer and other professional leadership comprises roles such as a Board member of the Continuing Care Association; Vice-Chair of Aware NS; Vice Chair of the Canadian College of Health Executives Bluenose; Vice Chair of the NS Health Human Resources Sector Council and more. She has also been a long-standing member of both the Health Association Nova Scotia and our Nursing Homes of NS Association.
MacIsaac will begin transitioning to the ED position on September 18 with an official start date of October 2, following Michele Lowe’s retirement on September 29.
