ABOUT US:

Beacon Continuing Care Society provides the overall Governance and oversight for Ocean View Continuing Care Center and The Birches long term care homes which provides services for 213 Nova Scotians. There are approximately 450 employees. We work in a social enterprise business model and have very close ties to two Charitable Foundations and other groups that support our mission.

DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Board of Directors of Beacon Continuing Care, the CEO is the senior executive with overall accountability for the day-to-day oversight and leadership of the management team in achieving the Boards strategic plan for the enterprise. The CEO is accountable to ensure that our employees are engaged and continue to be passionate about working in senior care. The successful incumbent will work within the Board policies and procedures to ensure quality of care and services and maintain successful Accreditation and Provincial standards for long term care homes. The successful incumbent will be required to lead the urgent work of post pandemic recovery in long term care homes including the stabilization of human resources and model of care. The Board is committed to system change and therefore the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong passion, commitment, ability, and sense of urgency to grow shared services and develop the social enterprise.

Qualifications:

MUST HAVE:
• Masters in Business (MBA) or Health Administration (MHA) or comparable preparatory degree for a senior leader.
• Certified Health Executive (CHE) or willingness to obtain same within 2 years of appointment.
• 3+ years of long term / continuing care management is required.
• 3+ experience managing large budgets and providing financial oversight.
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• Experience working with shared services and social enterprise development.

 

NICE TO HAVE:
• 5+ years of senior leadership experience in multi site management.
• Work experience in a social enterprise model
• Experience in an Accredited organization. A Certified Accreditation Surveyor would be an asset.
• Knowledge of continuous quality improvement. LEAN management certified is an asset.
• Certification in human resource management.
• Regulated healthcare background
• Professional experience in labor relations or human resource management.
